Assistant Director: Windows Server and VMWare (Ref #: OHSC 22/2023)
Salary: R 527 298 (plus applicable benefits)
Requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric and a Three-Year Bachelor’s degree / National Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology.
At least 3 years’ experience in designing/implementing virtualisation technologies with Windows Server 2016 and above.
Microsoft Office 365 and Windows OS 10/11 is essential.
Solid ICT Infrastructure background and understanding of Windows Servers Architecture, Active Directory, Domain Naming Services (DNS) and Domain Policies.
MS O365 Administration and Microsoft Azure skills and experience Anti-Virus configuration and management (Sophos).
Sound knowledge and administration of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and PRTG Network Monitor.
Sound knowledge on VMware for management of the virtual environment.
Knowledge of networks (LAN and WAN) and VPN.
Sound knowledge on system administration and Windows servers 2016/2019/22022 and O365 applications.
Sound knowledge and experience the following technologies Veeam, VMware experience including host platform security, server consolidation, server virtualisation, setup and maintenance of off-site Disaster Recovery (DR) and on-site back-up solutions. Sound knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN), server, network and cloud technologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to grasp various operating systems and applications.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team environment.
Must be prepared to travel and work after hours and public holidays when required.
Must be prepared to be on standby when required.
A valid driver’s licence.
-Microsoft Certification in the following platforms will be an advantage
- Windows Server Administrator,
- Microsoft Certified: SCCM Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: SCOM Administrator
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Duties:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems and administer and manage VMware virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated components.
Manage and maintain Active Directory services, including user and group management, GPOs, and domain controllers, integrate, manage user authentication and authorization within the Windows Server environment.
Design, implement, and maintain SCCM infrastructure to facilitate software deployment, updates, and system configurations.
Deploy and manage SCOM infrastructure for monitoring and managing the health and performance of Windows servers and applications.
Create, configure, monitor, and manage virtual machines (VMs) using VMware technologies. Implement and enforce security measures for both Windows servers and VMware environments and ensure compliance with industry practices.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for both Windows servers, virtualized environments and conduct regular testing of backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Provide technical support for Windows server, VMware-related issues, investigate and resolve hardware, software, and virtualization problems promptly.
Manage and apply patches and updates to Windows servers and VMware infrastructure to maintain system security and stability.
Document server and virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Analyze server and virtualization capacity, plan for future growth, and recommend hardware and software upgrades as needed.
Support on Microsoft servers and O365 tools and applications.
Train users on ICT security awareness.
Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure security.
Manage, maintain and test backups of systems.
Monitor and maintain server performance and report on uptimes of systems on monthly basis.
Provide technical support and assistance to users on all OHSC technologies and applications
