Assistant Director: Windows Server and VM Ware (Ref #: Ref No: OHSC 05/2017)

Salary: R 417 552 per annum (plus applicable benefits)

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology or related fields
  • At least 3 years experience in designing/implementing virtualisation technologies with Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Exchange 2010 and Windows 7/8 is essential
  • VMWare experience including host platform security, server consolidation, virtual desktops, server virtualisation, setup and maintenance of off-site Disaster Recovery (DR) and on-site back-up solutions
  • Sound understanding of Storage Area Network (SAN), fibre channel and network technologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Abilities to grasp various operating systems and applications
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team environment
  • Must be prepared to travel and work after hours and public holidays when required
  • Must be prepared to be on standby when required
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Duties:

  • Administering and configuration of Windows 2008 and 2012 servers and ensure maximum performance
  • Perform backups and restorations
  • Administer Exchange Servers, Domain Controllers, fix errors and escalate when neccessary
  • Ensure on-site hardware, software and peripheral updates in the organisation
  • Ensure that the system and data protection is managed
  • Responsible for implementing, tuning and maintaining VMware based solutions
  • Implement VMware for server consolidation and virtualisation
  • Define, monitor and troubleshoot system performance within VMware environment
  • Develop and maintain operational guidelines for the maintenance and support of virtual infrastructure
  • Provide maintenance of servers (service packs, hot fixes etc)
  • Provide support for hardware and software of the SharePoint location
  • Administer and maintain mission critical web and database servers hosted mainly within the companies own datacentre in OHSC (some hosted externally)
